The Shofar Story
Fred and Lucille May started Shofar Christian Church in Stellenbosch, South Africa in 1992. Today Shofar is an international, multi-generational, multi-cultural church family of over 50 congregations across five countries: South Africa, Namibia, the United Kingdom, Burundi and the Netherlands.
Shofar (pronounced 'show far') is the Hebrew word for the ceremonial ram's horn. Historically it announced seasons, served in royal anointing ceremonies, and signalled the summons to gather — symbolising prophetic urgency, authority and mobilisation.
